Privacy policy
Starting XI has no accounts and no database of users. Your lineups stay in your browser unless you choose to share a link.
Who runs this site
Starting XI is run by the Starting XI team. For privacy questions, contact startingxifplbuildercontact@gmail.com.
Data we collect
We don't ask for your name, email or any other personal details, and we don't run our own servers that receive your lineups or searches. What you build is stored only on your device.
Like any website, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may automatically keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver and protect the site.
Cookies and local storage
Starting XI does not set cookies. It uses your browser's local storage for:
- Your current lineup, so it's still there when you come back.
- A cache of recent player searches and player details (kept up to 7 days), so the same data isn't downloaded again.
- Your display settings: dark mode, and whether the bench is shown.
- Whether you've dismissed the privacy notice.
This data never leaves your device and isn't readable by us.
Shared links
When you select Share, your lineup (formation, players, substitutes, positions, drawings and lineup name) is packed into the link itself. We don't store it anywhere. Anyone who has the link can see that lineup, so only share it with people you want to see it.
Analytics
Starting XI does not use analytics or tracking tools.
Advertising
Starting XI uses Google AdSense to show ads on the lineup builder's home page and on our guide pages. It doesn't show ads on this privacy page or on shared lineup links. When ads are shown, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
You can manage personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings, and learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Third-party services
Player search and photos are provided by the Wikimedia Foundation:
- Wikidata receives the names you type into the player search.
- Wikimedia Commons serves player photos.
As with any web request, Wikimedia receives your IP address and browser information when these load. Their handling is covered by the Wikimedia privacy policy. Fonts are served from our own site, not a third party.
Children
Starting XI doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Everything Starting XI stores is in your browser. You can delete it here, or by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
